Moose Hill is not a place.   Moose Hill was our handsome and faithful Chocolate Lab, born in Maine and happiest at camp.  We named our company after Moose. Although not a chocolate eater, he was there from the very beginning when we started making chocolate for family and friends.

Sadly, Moose passed on Earth Day of 2017 and we really miss him. We are chocolate lovers! We are a small, family run chocolate business. We’ve enjoyed years of camping, cottage rentals, hiking and exploring in Maine. Now we’re expanding our horizons with our delicious chocolates.

What Makes Us Different

Our vision at Moose Hill Chocolates starts with creating tantalizing chocolates and caramels. We will also create candies to your specific tastes. It goes on from there.

It is not just about the chocolate, it’s about the experience!

Currently you can order Moose Hill Chocolate online but we envision a chocolate shop, on the Moosehead Trail where visitors can see the process and become involved. Watch the chocolates and candies being made and add their own temptations to their order. If you’re not at our shop and you’d like to create your own chocolate or candy delight, let us know and we’ll make it for you.

How It All Began

In 2003 we purchased land on Ripley Pond, five miles from Dexter in central Maine an area of rolling hills, quaint towns and crystal clears lakes and ponds. The dream was to build a get-away camp for our family. We fell in love with the area while driving through many small towns in search of unique items to make our camp a home.

We wanted to join and contribute to the community while also doing something we love. And who doesn’t love chocolate? We spent weeks, then months perfecting a variety of chocolate recipes and concocting some of our own. Finally, our dream became a reality when friends and family started requesting our chocolates at holidays and get togethers. We’ve grown to multiple craft fairs, retail sites and corporate clients. Now our website offers our customers the chance order to their hearts desire.

Since the area has given us so much pleasure over the years, we are hoping to give something back. Our plan is to start Moose Hill Chocolates as a purveyor of delicious chocolates and candies and then expand by opening a Chocolate Shop providing fun jobs and an attraction for visitors.
